Details

Adinkra symbols of West Africa have an amazing story behind them! King Adinkra, the chief of Gyaman (today's Ivory Coast), wore special clothes with patterns on them made up of symbols with special meanings. King Adinkra insulted the king of the Ashanti by copying the design of his sacred golden stool. King Bonsu of the Ashanti was angry with King Adinkra and killed him, and the Ashanti took the patterns from King Adinkra's clothes as their own. The native craftsmen of the Ivory Coast say that the patterns were created by the first men to make the cloth, and that the symbols have been passed down through the generations, creating a tradition of printing and jewelry making. Each symbol or character has a different meaning behind it which makes this piece not only beautiful, but full of depth, history and meaning too! Imagine the conversations that this beautiful necklace will start!

Key Points

Necklaces with an Extension Chain - are a timeless look. If you are looking for that classic feel that will work with any clothing neckline - this is it. From crew-neck's to v-neck's and everything in between, this length is perfect. Why? Because it can be any length that you choose, whether you want it shorter or longer the choice is left up to you.

Gemstones

Tiger Eye - is a gemstone named for it's likeness to the pattern of a tiger. This coloring is completely natural and one of nature's most beautiful gifts. Tiger Eye is also one of the Chatoyant Gemstones - this refers to it's natural sheen/shimmer which can be seen when the gemstone is placed in the light. This is the result of small fibers at the surface of the gemstone which reflect light back to our eyes in this beautiful way.
